The Kingsmen Shakespeare Company
Mission
Since its inception in 1997, The Kingsmen Shakespeare Company has been dedicated to presenting professional programs and performances of the works of William Shakespeare for the education and entertainment of people of all ages.
Located just north of Los Angeles in Thousand Oaks, California, Kingsmen is the professional theatre company in residence at California Lutheran University. Under the stars in picturesque Kingsmen Park, the company presents two of Shakespeare’s plays each summer in its annual, six-week, mainstage season and mounts an educational production that tours Southern California schools each winter.
Known for consistent artistic excellence in both traditional and more conceptual stagings, Kingsmen has been declared by the L. A. Times to be “well-established as a summer mainstay for discriminating fans of outdoor theater,” and a company that “far exceeds typical expectations.” Kingsmen has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in the Arts from the City of Thousand Oaks, Youth Organization of the Year award from the Conejo Valley Activities Corporation, and the Conejo Las Virgenes Future Foundation CLvFFie Award, presented to the most community-oriented individuals and organizations in the area.
Diligently striving to serve our community for the past twenty years through the works of this wonderful playwright, Kingsmen was humbled to be recognized by the L. A. Times as “the definitive Shakespeare theatre in Southern California.
