Commonwealth Theatre Center

Mission:

To develop youth and our community through excellence in comprehensive theatre education and performance.

Who We Are

Staff:
CTC staff are performing arts professionals possessing a wide range of expertise in various theatrical disciplines, as well as skilled administrators with considerable experience and a record of growth and excellence. Most importantly, all are committed to the development of young people.

Students:
The organization serves over 55,000 youth and adults each year from a wide array of backgrounds and experiences. Students hail from 63 zip codes, including 300+ schools and community centers throughout the Kentuckiana region. In addition to extracurricular classes featuring a season of performances in the Walden Theatre Conservatory and the wide range of in-school educational experiences through our Blue Apple Outreach, students engage with the community in many significant ways. They can be seen closing out Fund for the Arts events and performing with other arts organizations such as Actors Theatre of Louisville, StageOne, and many other stage, commercial, and film projects.

Alumni:
Walden Theatre Conservatory alumni are sought after by the nation's top BFA theatre programs. Graduates advance to post-secondary programs in an array of disciplines. Recent graduates have matriculated at Juilliard School, Carnegie Mellon, Brown University, Sarah Lawrence College, Princeton University, DePaul University, Indiana University, Centre College, and many more top schools nationwide. The skills and capacities students acquire in the Conservatory – creative problem-solving, commitment, communication, and professionalism – translate well into any career, whether it's on the stage, in the classroom, or in the boardroom.
