Shakespeare in Detroit

Shakespeare in Detroit is a nonprofit organization that aims to enhance and support the literacy, cultural, educational and financial growth of Detroit through outreach and site-specific, inclusive performances that consciously promote diversity, accessibility and tourism.

Shakespeare in Detroit will produce the classics, musicals, contemporary and new works in equal measure throughout each season as the official Shakespeare organization of the city through place-making performances in Detroit. The pioneering theatre company will also tour its company members to share the essence of the city as a cultural force throughout the country and world.  The company will continue to produce FREE Shakespeare in the park performances each summer. These performances are the bedrock of our commitment to bringing theater to all.
