Mission
Seoul Shakespeare Company (SSC), founded in 2010, is an all-volunteer theatre company, and the only English-language Shakespeare company in Seoul, South Korea. Powered by a diverse community of actors and artists, Seoul Shakespeare company strives to produce high-quality productions that reach across linguistic and cultural boundaries while celebrating live theatre and the communities that produce these challenging and engaging works.
Vision
We are the only local company bringing Shakespeare, performed in English, to audiences in Seoul. To Korean audiences we provide the chance to see Shakespeare’s works performed in his original language; to English-speaking expatriate audiences, we give the opportunity to see theatre performed in their own language, by members of their own linguistic community; to English-speaking theatre artists in Seoul, we provide opportunities to participate in the creation of full-scale productions and develop their skills in the theatrical arts.
Our vision is to bring Shakespeare to wider audiences in Korea and to introduce new audiences to Shakespeare’s works as living, breathing, and engaging pieces of theatre.
